Founder of Zunaira Clothing
Meet the Woman Behind Zunaira Clothing
Some dreams begin with a business idea. Hers began much earlier, in a home filled with family, laughter, creativity and, in many ways, clothes.
She grew up as a much-loved daughter, especially close to her Nani and Mamu. She was a little mischievous, always laughing and often the one keeping everyone entertained. Her siblings would probably have their own stories to tell about how often she troubled them, but that playful side was simply part of who she was.
She was never someone who found her world in textbooks or academic achievements. Her interests were elsewhere. She painted, knitted, cooked, created things with her hands and loved trying something new. Creativity came to her naturally, long before she ever thought of it as something that could become part of her work.
There was another influence in her life that would stay with her for years. Her father had successfully built and run quality clothing businesses through the late 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. Growing up around him, she saw the work that went into building a clothing business and, perhaps without realising it at the time, developed her own connection with the world of clothing.
She learned that clothes were never simply clothes. They could say something about the person wearing them. They could reflect personality, confidence, culture and creativity. They could also carry memories of people, places and occasions.
Life then took her in a different direction.
Marriage brought a new chapter, one in which family became the centre of her world. She became more reserved and grounded, and found herself taking on roles that mattered deeply to her, being a supportive partner, a daughter, a sister and, eventually, a mother.
Why Ethnic Wear
Becoming a mother changed many things. It brought a different perspective on life, a deeper sense of responsibility and a new way of looking at the future. It also brought back a part of herself that had been quietly waiting.
The idea of building something of her own had never completely disappeared. It simply had to wait for the right time.
Her daughter gave that dream a name.
Zunaira Clothing was born from that dream.
Building Something of Her Own
Today, she is building Zunaira alongside the responsibilities that remain closest to her heart: being there for her family, raising her daughter and creating something that belongs to her.
She does not see family and ambition as two things a woman has to choose between. Life does not always give us the perfect time or the perfect circumstances to begin something. Sometimes family comes first. Sometimes we have to pause. Sometimes we learn, start again and find our confidence along the way.
For her, that has been part of the story.
She believes in people and in the relationships built along the way. She values being present, not only when things are going well, but also when someone needs support. She believes there is more to building a business than competition. There is something to be learned from the people around us, from those who teach us, those who work with us, those who challenge our thinking and those who simply stand by us.
Her circle may be small, but she values the people in it deeply. Some become teachers. Some become collaborators. Some become friends. And some become the kind of people you carry with you for years.
That belief in people is also part of what she wants Zunaira to be.
Not just a place to buy ethnic wear, but a brand built with care, good relationships and a genuine understanding of the women it serves.
What Zunaira Means to Her
For her, Zunaira Clothing is about creating clothes that a woman can feel comfortable wearing and confident being herself in.
It is about choosing pieces with care rather than simply filling a catalogue. It is about learning, listening and continuing to improve. It is about building something slowly, with the same values that mattered to her when the idea first began.
And perhaps most importantly, it is about remembering where it all started.
A family. A daughter. A dream that had been quietly waiting for its time.
This is Zunaira Clothing.
And behind it is a woman who is still learning, still creating, still dreaming and, finally, building something of her own.
A Message from the Founder
To every woman who has ever wondered whether she can build something of her own while being there for the people she loves, I want to share something I have learned along the way.
You do not always have to choose between family and ambition.
Life does not always follow the timeline we imagine for ourselves. There are times when family needs us more. There are responsibilities that cannot be put aside. There are moments when we have to pause, learn something new, begin again or simply wait until the time feels right.
That does not mean the dream has disappeared.
Sometimes, it is still there, quietly waiting.
I have come to believe that a woman can build a loving family and build something meaningful of her own. It may not happen quickly, and it may not look the way she first imagined, but that does not make it any less worthwhile.
My own experience has taught me not to be afraid of starting small.
Keep learning. Stay curious. Talk to people. Listen to them. Allow yourself to learn from those around you. Some people will encourage you, some will teach you, and some may challenge the way you think. All of them can leave something valuable behind.
I have also learned that building a business does not mean doing everything alone.
The people we meet matter. The conversations we have matter. The people who guide us, work with us, support us and sometimes question our ideas can all become part of what we build.
Be willing to ask for help.
Be willing to change your mind when you learn something new.
And never stop being a learner.
But while building something of your own, do not forget the person you were before the business.
My hope is simple.
I want every woman who wears Zunaira Clothing to feel comfortable, confident and completely herself. And perhaps, in some small way, to feel encouraged to believe in the woman she can become.
You do not have to have everything figured out before you begin.
Start where you are. Keep learning. Keep good people around you. Ask for help when you need it. Make room for the people you love.
And if there is a dream you have been carrying quietly for years, perhaps it is time to give it a little space.
With Warmth,
Founder, Zunaira Clothing.
